Orchards

Fruit Trees
The Orchards are home to a number of old and unusual fruits including apples, mulberry, pears, plums and peaches. All these are organically grown using a combination of our own compost, the odd dose of organic fertiliser from a volunteer's wormery and, of course, good old hard work!
Ponds
Three ponds have been established and these provide environment and sanctuary to a variety of insects and amphibians. pond 2
pond 1 Denizens of the ponds include Frogs, Toads, Newts (including the Great Crested), Pond Skaters, Water Boatmen and various Dragonflies.
Bees
At Heathfield we maintain several active beehivesbee hives
and more!
The orchards are host to a variety of different creatures including insects, amphibians, at least one fox and last, but certainly not least, our much loved resident sheep.
