Orchards
Fruit Trees
The Orchards are home to a number of old and unusual fruits including apples, mulberry, pears, plums and peaches. All these are organically
grown using a combination of our own compost, the odd dose of organic fertiliser from a volunteer's wormery and, of course,
good old hard work!
Ponds
| Three ponds have been established and these provide environment and
sanctuary to a variety of insects and amphibians.
|
 |
 |
Denizens of the ponds include Frogs, Toads, Newts (including the Great Crested),
Pond Skaters, Water Boatmen and various Dragonflies.
|
Bees
| At Heathfield we maintain several active beehives | |
and more!
The orchards are host to a variety of different
creatures including
insects, amphibians, at least one fox and last, but certainly not least,
our much loved
resident sheep.
